I pretty much agree with ocrenter on this war.
The thing about military might is that it went to our heads. We are addicted to being the most powerful.
Our friends are taking advantage of our protection because we let them. But also because our leaders (political and military) are addicted to power.
We should remember that our friends are also our business competitors and bankers. They are getting richer and innovating in the business world while we are preoccupied with security and war.
Our soldiers who come from low social economic backgrounds are becoming the security service workers of the world. They go around the world providing security much like we import people to clean our houses and pick our produce.

Start with defense, and then go after corporate welfare, farm subsidies (which are all going to massive corporations), and every other friggin’ entitlement program out there.
Spread the pain, baby. We also need to do that same shit here in California. Cut spending and raise taxes.[/quote]
well said. this is the only way out. nothing is sacred! not even mortgage deductions.

good point, power can be intoxicating and addictive. to the point that we lose our focus and we become blind of the fact that a lot of folks are simply freeloading off us.
