My kid made a duct tape wallet for me to use, recyling an old wallet I had that ripped….
My kid learns from a very basic flow chart I use all the time…And I’m pretty proud of it…

I wasn’t sure if it meant he was a large, hairy, lustrously yellow man in the gay community or pessimistic on the price of precious metals and decided not to ask. :-)[/quote]

What image if manhood are you trying to portray? Rugged or GQ sophisticate.
Do you care if people can tell at first glance by looking at your wallet. If you choose an obscure brand, then few will know.March 14, 2014 at 7:04 PM #771868scaredyclassicParticipanti just want to be a man, like my dad was a man. hedidn’t think about being a man he was justa man. i’m kind of a “man”, with quotation marks. I think of myself as male, heterosexual, but in terms of manliness, i’m more of an ironic man. i blame the 70s free to be you and me spirit…
and the lack of emphasis on manliness, or the existence of ritual rites into manhood.
of course my dad didn’t think about his wallet, he just had a wallet. and a humidor, with stinky cheap cigars that he didn’t give a damn ifwe complained about. and dewars…he was a man.
maybe i’m a man, jjust a little postmodern.

For the past few years, I had been using a large paper clip for a wallet. Just carried my driver’s license, a credit card, and some cash. Found that I would keep forgetting things like the kids’ insurance cards when taking them to the doctor’s office, so had to carry those around all the time, just in case. Need the Barnes and Noble discount card, too, because we will be buying and reading paper books until they stop printing them. Also realized that I need the AAA card when I’m out and about. The darn stack that I was trying to keep to a nice minimalist size kept growing until the clip could no longer contain it, so I had to move to something similar to this:

It is perfect.

No smartphone, either. Just an old flip phone on which I have a $100/year prepaid plan. Cheap and simple. 🙂

100$ for a wallet or 2000 for a watch or 50$ for a key chain may be not silly since they are items you are in daily contact with. V. Say something in a closet.
March 16, 2014 at 9:07 AM #771915moneymakerParticipantI agree with you in theory scaredy but still would not buy this http://www.amazon.com/Ox-Bull-Stainless-Steel-Paper/dp/B00HNXXZH2/ref=sr_1_29?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1394985973&sr=1-29 and I’m going to confess my last wallet I bought at the swap meet for $4.

March 16, 2014 at 1:31 PM #771919FlyerInHiGuestI doubt your dad cared how cleverly designed and exquisitely made a wallet is.
