OT: TV Mystery Malfunction

I hope someone out there can a reason for, or cure for, my malfunctioning 2005 Mitsubishi WD-52627 DLP TV. The lamp was replaced 6 months ago. Last week the TV lost the red tones. The Verizon FIOS menu, which normally appears in blue, red, and green, now only has blue and green. The screen colors are funny looking without any reds. I was prepared to purchase a new TV as I assumed it wasn’t worthwhile to repair this one. Last night I played a DVD and surprise – the color was perfect, with appropriate red tones.

So, why are the screen colors screwed up when viewing FIOS TV but perfect when viewing a DVD? Any suggestions or diagnoses? Thanks for any input.

Do you use component inputs from FIOS box to TV? If so see if the red connector or port at either end is broken.

edit – If you are using HDMI, I am not if the connector/ports will be a problem. You can try swapping inputs and cables between FIOS box and DVD player to see if the problem shifts to DVD player.
