It took about a million years to get to 1.5 billion and then another hunder to get to almost 7 billion.

Modern humans have only been around for a tiny fraction of the Earth’s “life” period. If a virus or a meteor comes along or we do something stupid any time in the next million years, we’ll still have only been here for a small fraction of the time life has been on Earth. Any thing could happen after that. Even if we stick around for that long, who’s to say some other species couldn’t evolve to be as smart as us (or smarter) right along side us?
Because Jesus Christ has chosen us, humans! π If we repent, we’ll be saved from extinction.
Arraya’s graph above shows it. The proof is right there. π

Sad story but I’m sorry, the dad was 100% at fault. He crossed after the arms were lowered, she didn’t have a helmet on, he failed to look both ways or listen, etc. You have to be pretty darn unaware of your surroundings if you can’t see or hear a trolley that’s close enough to hit you and you don’t have enough time to get out of the way. As a parent you are responsible for your young child. Don’t say they are ‘precious’ with your words. You show that they are precious by protecting them. You just don’t take stupid chances like that. Unfortunately he’ll pay for his stupidity with grief for the rest of his life.
I completely agree, CBad. My youngest starts kindergarten this year. The idea of biking around the barrier arm across trolley tracks with her – that is just nuts. If you want to take chances with your own life, whatever. But your children depend on your judgement to keep them safe. That poor child paid for his stupidity with her life.
