I would also like to make sure readers know that the fascinating discussion of sharks and zombies below is not the essense of the Econo-Almanac.
I thought he was referencing zombie banks and other banks that act like loan sharks after being bailed out with the taxpayers money…
my bad (token overused expression)
That would have been waaaay too on-topic.
I recently learned that the expression “my bad” was originally used by Manute Bol in the NBA. It spread through the NBA and eventually into pop culture.

June 25, 2010 at 11:09 AM #571413Allan from FallbrookParticipant
Man, you freaked me out with that, especially since your knowledge seems to be pretty far-reaching, but a frenzied dash over to Google temporarily allays my concern.
At best, I could find a reference to the Raiders and Groundhogs Day, but that seems to characterize the Raider’s current “Commitment to Bad Choices” rather than any direct connection. Whew!
Not to be content with that, a quick IMDB search confirms that his children are not saddled with such an unfortunate moniker. Double whew!
Next thing I know, you’re going to tell me he’s actually a zombie.
…although that would be a decided step up.
Nah, I made all that shit up. Bill Murray, like anyone else in their right mind, undoubtedly has nothing but contempt for the Raiders. I certainly would, but due to the fact that I’ve been a fan since I was 7, I’m going down with the ship.
I am planning on stealing your “Commitment to Bad Choices” line, though. That is priceless, and it would be hilarious if it weren’t also true.
As to Murray’s zombie status: I cannot comment on that. I thought he stole the show in “Zombieland”. Nice to see Woody Harrelson back in men’s clothes, too.

June 25, 2010 at 11:15 AM #571418ZeitgeistParticipantZombieland was a good zombie movie, especially the scene in the convenience store. Depending on what time of day or night you shop, you do see quite a few zombies. The next Z. movie should be shot in Walmart.
