I don’t think they are “that stupid”. They have to walk a fine line between pandering to dark ages bible thumpers and not completely alienating everyone else. As has been recently proved, that doesn’t always work out too well.
August 23, 2012 at 7:10 AM #750662svelteParticipantI think part of the problem is that, in pandering to their base, they say something often enough that they actually start believing it’s the truth.
The human mind is an odd thing.
August 23, 2012 at 7:57 AM #750664UCGalParticipantThey’re freaking me out too.
It’s like they skipped basic biology and are clueless about the real world.
Hopefully their wives, sisters, daughters, mothers will talk to them about what idiots they are.August 23, 2012 at 8:06 AM #750668spdrunParticipantHopefully not.
If they’re idiots, then they’re best outed as such. If they lose 51% of the vote, that will be a GOOD thing. Good riddance.

I think that to a woman, no means no. But men would like to parse rape so there is wiggle room.
Supposedly Julian Assange had consensual sex with women he met before. But he refused to wear a condom when they asked him. Is that rape or not?
August 23, 2012 at 1:06 PM #750675UCGalParticipantInteresting story on CNN.com
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/22/opinion/prewitt-rapist-visitation-rights/index.html?hpt=hp_c2About a woman who was raped, had the baby, then had the rapist sue for parental rights.
Yep… that is seriously messed up.
She became a lawyer to fight against rapist’s having parental rights.
In a paper she wrote (linked in the article) she cites studies that show alarming statistics on how many women over age 18 have been raped. It’s one in 12.
And from that pool – almost 5% got pregnant from the rape. The two studies that looked at this do not include rapes of minors… so the statuatory rape not being “legitimate” rape thing is not relevant in these statistics.
Here’s the link to the paper w/ the statistics.

August 23, 2012 at 1:38 PM #750677desmondParticipantBringing home the bacon is also termed a “slump buster”.

That doesn’t sound consensual.

I bet it would be his dream come true. People like him tend to be sexually repressed.
Attractive mata haris have been used since the beginning of time to get powerful men into embarrassing situations and to disgrace powerful figures.

You mean just like Bill Clinton????
But wait…From Bill Clinton…Oral sex really isn’t sex…Disclaimer… I think Akin a frickin moron. But I think his apathy/stupidness about this has less to do with any misogynistic feelings..I seriously speculate if he has some dirty skeletons lurking around.
