What’s the latest? Have these new neighbors caused you any problems yet? Have they placated you by inviting you to their parties?
April 5, 2014 at 3:38 PM #772519creechrrParticipantHave the dogs given you any direct reason to be fearful?
Pits have gotten a pretty bad wrap in the media. I have yet to meet a bad dog of any breed unless, the owner had created a bad dog.
Is it age, renter status or the dogs that’s really bothering you?
April 6, 2014 at 8:43 AM #772539scaredyclassicParticipantwhole mess of pitbulls at the dog adoption onthe 79 by petsmart yesterday. they looked very very shifty…
April 6, 2014 at 10:05 AM #772540paramountParticipantThe latest is: yes the dogs broke through the fence.

I couldn’t care less about pits, their bad wrap, their owners, etc…
My job is to protect my kids and that is what I intend to do – like it or not.

Riverside County is also moving in the direction of pit bull (and similar breed) eradication.
“Pit bulls and pit bull mixes in unincorporated Riverside County must be spayed or neutered under terms of a sterilization ordinance the Board of Supervisors approved Tuesday, Oct. 8.”
I fully understand the mechanics/demographics of the victim mentality surrounding pit bulls and similar breeds.
Bringing a pit bull(s) into a community full of small children is about as moronic as it comes.
April 6, 2014 at 12:36 PM #772544paramountParticipantFar to many of these incidents involving pit bulls (and similar breeds):
March 30, 2014
An 11-year-old boy was severely bitten on the mouth by a pit bull this weekend in Winchester (Temecula area), according to a news report.
The Riverside County Department of Animal Services reported that the apparently unprovoked attack happened at 4 p.m. Saturday at a house on Stuber Street, where the victim was playing with friends, according to the Riverside Press- Enterprise.
The boy suffered a severe injury to his lower lip despite attempts to fend the dog off with a pool cue, the newspaper reported.
The 2-year-old female dog, which was not fixed, was turned over to authorities to be put down, according to The Press-Enterprise.

Sounds like the idiots on the Riverside Co board of supervisors need to be sterilized. Not allowing stupids like them to reproduce would improve the gene pool in CA 🙂
Bringing ANY ill-trained powerful or large dog, REGARDLESS OF BREED into a community with small children is as moronic as it comes. I’m fine with strict liability legislation for damages caused by dogs. Breed-specific legislation is idiotic.
April 6, 2014 at 5:38 PM #772550joecParticipantI support breed specific legislation because if we’re in an ideal world, yes, the owners would manage it better than what see practically every day. Obviously, 95% or more of the owners can’t do the job of policing themselves so I’m all for not allowing certain breeds at all in certain neighborhoods. Maybe someone can propose that to my local HOA…
You see enough of the dog owner’s kids get mauled at times that this should simply not be happening anymore.
I think at times, the owners of these breeds are worst than the dogs themselves actually and are belligerent, aggressive and should themselves be neutered…
Yes, I generally hate most dogs and especially dog owner who let their dogs run leash free who clearly have no basis to allow that.
April 7, 2014 at 6:21 PM #772599CricketOnTheHearthParticipantI’m more interested in the dogs’ behavior than their breed. So they got through the fence– do they seem to be violent/aggressive in other ways too?
I’ve seen really vicious-acting German Shepherds, but the neighbor across the street has a pit bull (fixed) which is very mellow. The neighbor on the corner, who is a very nice guy, has a pit bull that acts pretty fierce.
It’s very possible the owner of the house doesn’t know about the dogs. It wouldn’t be the first time prospective tenants put on their nicest faces to the prospective landlord and “forgot to mention a little detail.”
