If you have a lease that ends on let’s say Jan 31, 2011 is there a specific notice you should provide prior to moving out?

I’ve given notice of move this past weekend, and the landlord/property management company wants to charge for 30 days (which will actually extend my lease to another 8 days). Is this legal?

I’m trying to find out if I tell them to pound sand or pay for it…thanks

If I’m reading this correctly, the tenant is required to give the landlord 30 days notice:
