To some, it sounds good on paper… Cheap(er) housing, a mellow country environment, wineries, and a decent drive to anything worthwhile. A pretty picture of Harveston Lake… Let’s make Temecula our home, so many people are saying. Its great for kids… yadayada..
That is until you experience the pathetic masses that crowd and hoard the poorly laid out streets and business parks that make up the rat maze. Enjoy the evening sun as it bakes down on you while you wait in traffic trying to either enter or exit Costco or the mall, all while sitting alone in your Tahoe or BMW X5 admiring your fake boobs and chatting on the cell phone.
And while you’re at Costco, and since you can’t afford your toxic mortgage, insane prop. taxes, your suv, the gas you must put in your suv in order to get anywhere outside of the city(work), and the fake boobs you just had installed, you should rape and pillage the senior citizens that man the demo booths at Costco, so you don’t have to buy lunch. Never mind the gridlock you have just caused as you wait for the 80 year old lady to nuke a fresh set of nuggets, so you can have seconds. Then, throw your trash on the ground, cause someones job is to clean it up.
Then in the evening, hit up one of the many big name restaurants that fill the valley, cause the illegals that work there know how to cook, and you don’t, plus all the other sheeple seem to do it, so it must be logical, despite the long waits that people are willing to endure, despite the never ending building of said diners.
Got kids, drop them off at the mall, muligans, or any other form of child care, as long as they aren’t an inconvenience to you. “Just keep them shut up”, seems to be the motto here, quality time with kids.. who needs it?
But you are happy right?… after all, you are king of the castle, you own a MCMANSION… nevermind the fact that there are 10 others identical to yours on the same street, or that your 5 year old kid could jump from your roof to the neighbors, or that the lot size is half the square footage of the house, but hey, as long as its over 3000sqft, you rock!
Need recreation, we have it, its called pechanga, the best form of recreation there is. Why drive to Vegas?

and thanks for bearing with me as I vent… sorry, I’m just really starting to hate what this town has become. It was a great place in the early 90’s, I can’t wait to get my family out of here as soon as the wife is done with school, so yes we are considering leaving…

for I heard that the hole in the Ozone layer is leading to even higher temperture still for Temecula, BUT THEN: the ice in Greenland is going to melt more, raising the ocean up and submerging La Jolla, Delmar, especially Carmel Valley…..And one day Temecula is going to be a beach town.
At that time, when the housing bubble has reached the bottom, you can enjoy the beach from your back yard. I will go fishing above La Jolla. hehehe

The big things that you mention are beyond your control. Maybe there are a few small things you can do try and make the community around you better. That really is the best therapy.
