ParticipantIMO the best sushi isn’t downtown but there’s a good one there: Taka, On 5th street just south of Market. Make a reservation and leave early to find parking (especially if there’s a Padres game going on).
A funny note: the sushi chefs, who are all Japanese, are big-time surfers. I’ve seen them at PB point and at Black’s.

ParticipantIf you want VERY cheap sushi (price wise) that is still decent you can go to Sushi Deli II on Broadway. But I guess coming from Ohio any sushi seems decent to me.

ParticipantTaka is the only place to go downtown. Make your reservervation to be at at the sushi bar, and request to be with Maru (head sushi chef) or Honda. Be sure to order the special battera roll. You won’t be disappointed.
