What other CEO in the history of the universe has taken their company from near bankruptcy to being the most valuable company in the world in less than a decade? Whether you love or hate Apple and their products, there is no denying the absurdity and amazingness of that accomplishment. Or maybe that’s just Steve deploying his reality distortion field on me yet again.

August 26, 2011 at 8:21 AM #724699briansd1GuestI don’t know much about Henry Ford. I brought him up because the press keeps reporting that Steve Jobs changed the way we live like Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. Really? I don’t see how Apple products changed how we live.
Ted Turner probably changed how we live more by creating CNN and the 24-hour news cycle.

August 26, 2011 at 8:43 AM #724743blahblahblahParticipantPeople tend to forget that Jobs is responsible for 2 insanely great, insanely successful companies: Apple and Pixar. He bought Pixar for $10M and sold it for over $7B 20 years later. Cha-ching.
A world without Steve Jobs? There would have been no “Toy Story” — kids wouldn’t have gotten to watch Buzz and Woody! I don’t even want to imagine such a miserable place…
