It’s a bad decision.
What’s the address I send my life coaching invoice too?
February 16, 2017 at 4:34 PM #805615zkParticipantYou have the money. You want it. It’s a bargain.
I guess you could keep the old one forever. Is that your plan, if you don’t buy the new one now? Keeping the old one forever? That could work. You like working on them. But if that’s not your plan, why not get a new one now?
February 16, 2017 at 5:12 PM #805622La Jolla RenterParticipantomg… agree with zk. Buy it.
(can’t believe there aren’t 10 post already trying to shame you into buying a used Prius and donate the rest to world peace)
What would you buy if you could convince yourself to part with 100k?
February 16, 2017 at 5:15 PM #805625svelteParticipantwhat I usually do is overlap my cars…I keep the old one long after I buy the new one. That way if I end up hating the new one (doesn’t happen often), I can always sell it and go back to old faithful.
February 16, 2017 at 5:16 PM #805624CoronitaParticipantanother dealer is offering $5000 +500 off, so I’m asking the first dealer to match, since it’s the configuration I would want. We’ll see. Hopefully, they will say no, and I can walk before the weekend. If they say yes, I’m running out of excuses…
I don’t care. If they say no, my wallet doesn’t have a big hole.

$100k. Nothing. I don’t think I could bring myself to buying a $100k car, unless my net worth was like around $10-20million, such that my viewpoint of a $100k car was like a $20k car.
Go big, or a go cheap.
February 16, 2017 at 5:31 PM #805627CoronitaParticipantBoom, dealership said no… I’m done… Well that was easy!
Walking out over $1000…. FLU style…..Go cheap or go home….
February 16, 2017 at 5:58 PM #805628Rich ToscanoKeymasterWell what’s done is done… I was rooting for you to get the new Miata, selfishly (meaning, not based on any financial analysis, but just because I think they are so cool and I want a pigg to buy one).
But while disappointed in that respect, I think you made the right choice in waiting for the fat pitch. You have a functional car(s) so you have the luxury of patience, might as well use that to your advantage.
For myself, my Miata just turned 14 years old and I have no plans to replace it in the foreseeable future. But man, the new model makes it tempting.

Truthfully, I’m the kinda of guy that would be as happy driving a $100k car on one day and a $5k crapmobile the other day. The closest analogy I can think of is one of my friends who shops at Tiffany’s one day, and Walmart the other. Oh well, we have our own little quirks.
The problem is that $100k is really pushing the envelope these days. You can load up an M3/M4 and that would be $100k. It doesn’t feel like it’s a $100k car.
You use to be able to get a 911s below $100k just a few years ago. Now a 911s starts around $105k…. Car prices have gotten a little out of hand.I really like the 911s when I drove it and almost pulled the trigger on that… Darn short sales property that came on the market…Though, that was a good decision.
You know what car I really like? My colleague’s McLaren….
