My pop had one installed. It leaked. That’s the extent of my experience with them.

ParticipantMy neighbor installed them years ago when she put a patio addition on her house. They are really nice because otherwise her living room would be a dark hole. I like them. There at least 6 solatubes in her house and I don’t think they have ever leaked. Like UcGal said they are bright, very bright. A dimmer sounds like a good idea to me, especially in a bedroom.

Participanti had 6 in my house in oklahoma they were great, 5 years trouble free.
get light kits, shades and don’t put them in a bedroom, a small light glow will wake you up.
bathrooms are good
