unfortunately the real loser in the round is Taiwan.
The basis of China’s claim is that Diaoyu islets are part of Taiwan. And since in China’s warped mind Taiwan is “part of China” of course Diaoyu islets are part of China.
With the Taiwanese voice completely missing in this issue, the Taiwanese KMT government essentially is acting like a local government.
Unfortunately, the idea of an independent Taiwan was pretty much dampered by President Chen’s corruption in the Green Party…Yeah, so he says he was pro-taiwan independence. But I think the truth is he was just using that as a coverup for corruption….Kinda like President Bush Junior…..
No wonder Prez. Chen liked Bush soo much. Crooks always get along :). However, unlike the U.S., Taiwan does have the guts to throw a former president (and the first lady) in JAIL.http://www.etaiwannews.com/etn/news_content.php?id=1054680
KMT isn’t going to be pushing for independence. KMT has always support re-integration with China…
Taiwan’s soverign status is mired in controversy…So it’s kinda in purgatory. U.S. is never going to allow it to be independent. At the same time, it won’t let it be reunified either.
(Who else in asia can they sell all the used military equipment too? 🙂 And no other nation is going to play hardball with China right now either.Ah yes…a day in the life of asian politics. (And folks in the U.S. thought things were bad here)…
At least you don’t see congresswomen brawling…Lol…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrlV7FJq1AY
Morale of the story. Don’t piss of a taiwanese woman.
