Are you saying that donut-munchers are less likely to harass drivers of new cars?
August 5, 2012 at 7:28 PM #749519CoronitaParticipant
bought new Accord today for $17,999 plus tax, title and reg.
Spreen Honda. They honored their carwoo.com internet price.
I’m just too scared to buy a used car. I cannot handle that risk.
And too scared suddenly to drive my old car with my kids in it.
.09% financing for 60 months.
Not .9%, but .09%. With nothing down.
I think the payment is $329.00 a month or thereabouts.
Congrats… Lol! $18000. Great deal…
Have fun with it… At $18000, I don’t understand why you would want to buy used. Enjoy it. You earned it.
August 5, 2012 at 7:35 PM #749520bearishgurlParticipantI’m happy for you, scaredy, ESP that you got .09% financing and zero down! This is impossible to do with used or even Certified Used vehicles.
Except for navigation and possibly a “backup camera,” neither of which I care about, I LOVE as many options as I can get! So I would likely be gouged when making offers on new vehicles outfitted the way I would want them.
I’d prefer to buy a 6+ year old vehicle (due to price, annual reg fees and ins prems) that is safe, heavy and fully loaded.
Different strokes for different folks. Enjoy π
August 5, 2012 at 7:50 PM #749523scaredyclassicParticipantfear is my only true call to action. Basically I was too afraid to sit on cash and not buy a house, and I was too afraid that by merely having started seriously thinking that my old car was unsafe that I would jinx myself into having a fatal accident.
i do need to get some sort of mesh type seat cushion to i don’t sweat up my new ride.
im pretty excited about the ipod usb connection. actually it’s pretty bitching just to have a stereo…

My next vehicle purchase will probably be about 10-15 years old. Light, dangerous, and stripped down. Ducati!

seat cushion probaby ok, but don’t get an entire cover if your have side airbags that are inside the car seat itself. It may hinder the deployment of the airbag on a side impact. Just enjoy the car, don’t worry about getting it dirty..If you get it dirty, call up a detailer to give it a wash inside in about a year or two…
Hey, if you want a pair of hello kitty seat covers, I think I have them still from a retail promotion π
Don’t you love the USB integration? I think it rocks. Memory sticks are so cheap now, I got myself a 16gb stick and I slam all my music in there, and my kid has her own music on her own memory stick..Works great for long road trips…
If you have a mini usb hard drive, *sometimes* they work, if you can get external power to them…
If you have bluetooth, check if you can streaming music via bluetooth too. (A2DP audio).
The newer the cars, most of these things are standard equipment (and some of it didn’t exist until now)..
August 5, 2012 at 9:33 PM #749526scaredyclassicParticipantall I can say, piggs seeking hondas, is I’d get a quote off http://www.carwoo.com and http://www.truecar.com and run it by Spreen Honda in Loma Linda. bring the paperwork showing the bid and at least in my case, they were the lowest price by quite a bit and they kept their promise…they did say they wouldn’t honor their quote if I don’t bring the paperwork.
August 6, 2012 at 2:03 AM #749528CA renterParticipantCongratulations, scaredy!
Flu and paramount made some good points in this thread, too. IMHO, you’ve made the right choice, even if only for the safety factor (but it IS nice to have A/C, isn’t it?).
Enjoy your new ride! π
August 6, 2012 at 6:09 AM #749529scaredyclassicParticipantso where am I going to get a bumper sticker with the word “Mission” crossed out and replaced with “Nothing” accomplished–defeat bush in 2004 to replace the old tattered one?
also had an “obama-rama” air freshener…what a disappointment that was…
Actually I was thinking this time of putting a bunch of left wing bumperstickers on the left side anda bunch of right wing bumper stickers on the right side.
the Hello Kitty seat covers are extremely tempting and appreciated….
the stick shift knob used to turn into this black gooey surface substance that left dark crud on your hand at certain humidity levels…i would just wear gloves…
gonna save money right away by not registering the old car in a month, not smog checking it, and also the heater switch had to be repaired since it broke this summer. also needed a new front tire. So i feel kind of like I got a free car payment and saved a bunch of hours right there…

Scaredey… I think it’s time for some new bumper stickers. Let me make a few suggestions for you…
People love to put bumper stickers that express how proud they are of their kids, how nice they are, and their political leanings… Here’s a couple it think go alone with the theme…1. Honor Student Kids
2. Insults
3. Whatever…
4. Politics: Bi-partisanship
5. Smart people.
6. No bama
7. Pensions
8. Romney Elitism
9. Princess Fairy
And finally….
10, Ron Paul!!!!
August 6, 2012 at 7:09 AM #749531scaredyclassicParticipanti knew a guy in college who died in a freak car accident where he slid off the road and hit the one tree around in a wide open area in the drivers door and died. Had been thinking about him lately.
Bad things do actualy happen now and again…
I guess i could put the bipartisan stickers in the middle of the bumper.
I’ve always despised the idea of putting academic related alumni or honor sticker materials on there. feels pathetic.
The other problem is that putting my alma maters on my old car would have brought shame to the institutions…or at least made people think, jeez, that school must suck, look at what what the alums ride…

Bumper stickers are so 90ies. The cool thing to do is vinyl sticker decals. Plus they don’t destroy your car (like in case you get bored, they aren’t stuck there permanently)… Actually, if you have a pattern, I’ll make you one. I access to a vinyl sticker printer/cutter.
Let me know if want one of them riceboy “Powered by Honda” or “VTech” stickers. I guarantee it will make you feel that you have an additional +25hp at the wheel π

Jeez … good school. The alums are frugal and not materialistic twats.
August 6, 2012 at 7:41 AM #749535scaredyclassicParticipanti have always driven my Honda Civic in a way to minimize the RPMs in order to make the engine last as long as possible. So now i have a cosmetically thrashed civic with a strong engine with 250,000 miles.
I’ll probably drive this car the same way.
but no eating in or dogs throwing up in the car this time. Also i’ll close the windows so cats don’t come piss in it during the night.
now, let’s see, a custom pattern for a vinyl design. i’m going to need to ponder that. I need a logo….
There would have been a satisfying dissonance between a thrashed 80’s civic and license plate holders from an ivy league school and a top law school…but I never went there…
i remember in the old days seeing bumperstickers saying “don’t laugh it’s paid for”…havent really seen those around for a while. “Don’t laugh…the financing’s real cheap” isn’t quite as punchy…”don’t laugh…my lease is almost up?”
if i had bought a midlife sports car, maybe “Powered by Viagra”?
i am too scared to put insulting bumperstickers on. Don’t want to make anyone too angry at me needlessly.
