Somehow I was volunteered to take the kids to the San Diego County/Del Mar Fair to see BTR (Big Time Rush, the latest fad boy band) as part of the Summer Concert Series. And I won’t even mention the heat, humidity and stickiness of the Del Mar weather.
Don’t want to be a kill joy or a complainer, but for starters the fair was so crowded it was hard to walk, at times I felt like I was suffocating. I do like fairs, and I do like a good crowd and expected one; but on this night it was ridiculous.
And unless you were willing and able to shell out big bucks for concert tickets, the seating for the unwashed masses sucked. In fact it was dangerous.
The general seating was in a separate grandstand to the east of the stage, so to get a better view teenybopper’s were climbing all over each other on one end creating a dangerous situation.
Interestingly, I didn’t notice any instruments on the stage, and the music sounded like it was prerecorded.
But then I was pretty far away from the stage.
