How can you not associate militant gun-weilding anti-government activists with the party of the military, guns, and small government? They may not be card-carrying members, but the Venn diagram is pretty damning.
Afx: Anti-government is not the same as small government. Militant does not equal military. Gun ownership is not a crime, but a right guaranteed in the 2nd Amendment.
You always struck me as one of the more reasonable center-left posters. This type of arithmetic is really surprising coming from you. I’m an arch conservative, former vet, who’s also a gun owner, but in no way shape or form would I ever have anything to do with the likes of McVeigh, Koresh or Loughner. Moreover, there is no connection at all between their various philosophies, such as they are, and conservatism or right-wing thinking.
These folks are nuts, pure and simple.

January 13, 2011 at 10:55 PM #653294afx114ParticipantI’m not implying that you or all conservatives are like those whackos — you know I don’t believe that. I’m just trying to argue that the philosophies of activists who use guns and tough-guy bravado to take down “the man” often overlap with the philosophies of the right. This is evidenced by the list so graciously provided by pri_dk.
I look forward to your list of anti-government gun-wielding military-porn addicted leftist assassins.
Or maybe I’ve just had too much whiskey.

It would not be the first time false quotes were attributed to groups for political reasons. Left or right.
During the turn of the century you can directly link the rise of police forces to suppressing factory workers from organizing. During the depression there were socialist and communist groups on street corners of most manufacturing cities handing out literature. It was seen as a major threat to the ruling part as it is today.
Exactly.
