why look back at history? Let’s look at the present and future.
Politics change. Prime example is the right dead set against the very health care reform they proposed in the Clinton years.
The Right is moving to the extreme and the Left is moving to the center.
The threat of violence we face now is right wing.
Muslim terrorists and radicals. Right wing.
Attacks on family planning clinics. Right wing.
Gay bashing. Right wing.
Immigrant bashing. Right-wing.
Religious hate speech. Right wing.
Right wing neo-nazi groups are thriving on the Net.
I think the evidence is overwhelming.

Socialists and communists have killed as many people as the fascists. Throughout history, anyone claiming to have “the answer” for all of the people, has resorted to violence to “rescue” the non-believers.
Liberal used to mean, “open minded” vs. conservative which meant “traditional” – happy with the status quo. Today, the “liberals” are every bit as dogmatic as those labeled “conservative”. Even the “great liberals” of today are as vindictive as any conservative. See the story of Norman Finkelstein and Alan Dershowitz.
There are no good guys and bad guys at the extremes, only those seeking their own privilege
And FYI, immigrant bashing in an economic down turn, may be a good thing. If you dont have a border, and import talent, the domestic labor market will continue to deteriorate.
And health care, without a public option may just be a gift to already overpriced insurance providers. And it still doesn’t address health care for “illegals”. A crippling cost to the rest of us.
You don’t need a label to be “open minded”.
And I’m a liberal!
