If you read the SD Business Journal articles about La Jolla Bank just in the fall of last year, they were very positive about the financial health of the bank. Yet, within 1/2 year, the bank was taken over by the regulators.
I’m seeing a lot of empty commercial space. I believe that, in past recessions, owners had more equity and could ride it out better. The leverage has been so great that failures on a large order will be unavoidable.
