ParticipantYou can do partial employment for one or both and maybe no work for one of you, but there are some vulnerabilities as others have pointed out.
It can cost a lot to work and have kids, so you have removal of some of that expense on your side.I saw your thread about retiring in Temecula from a few years ago, so the bug has not gone away. People do it. You must have done some “soul searching” to even put it on the table.
I think it will work best if your are going to live happily ever after with your spouse.Maybe you will feel really vindicated for getting out of the rat race in the end. At this level of net worth, if you ever had to split the assets and run two households maybe not so much laughing, maybe it works out fine either way.

Participant….Anyway, it all makes sense, I have never met a Vonnegut fan who did not want to retire early.
Potential asset confiscation via taxes or other means concerns me…California is a pretty litigious state…Someone could take it all.

ParticipantI think you could pull it off if you get an inexpensive house.
You would probably need health insurance for the child as they tend to have expensive accidents. Perhaps you could qualify for S-CHIP.
I’ve considered doing the same as you; though, I’m still a few years away from being able to seriously consider it.
I think Temecula would be a good place to go. If I can’t pull it off where I’m at now (San Diego) Temecula is where I would most likely go.
