A little bit OT, but as a side note I am convinced that TGIF, Chili’s, Apple bee’s and the like is either frozen or somehow reconstituted food.

January 13, 2009 at 9:25 AM #328295waterboyParticipantWe had dinner at the Palm downtown and it wasn’t very good. Salad had been soaking in dressing for quite a while, soup was seafood chowder but more like seafood leftovers. The bread they brought out wasn’t warm and a little hard. Filet and salmon for main course were ok, but nothing to rave about. Both seemed a little dry. Key lime pie and tiramisu were also just ok. I would have to put Ruth Chris, Morton’s, Donovan’s, and Flemings ahead of the Palm.

The best sushi to be had in the county, imho, is at Kaito in Encinitas. Kaito is not doing the restaurant week thing, but if you are a lover of sushi, go to Kaito, sit at the sushi bar, do not be shy. The head sushi chef Kazuo Morita is warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. You can be a sushi purist or a roll lover and have a great time either way.
