Surveyor: Did you happen to catch HBO’s “Into the Storm”? It was about Churchill and England during the years 1940 – 1945 and it was excellent. Chamberlain didn’t come off too well, nor did Lord Halifax (who was supportive of suing for peace in 1940, with Mussolini as intermediary). I’ve always admired England’s willingness to stand and fight, especially during the truly dark years of 1939 – 1941, but it shows Churchill’s sense of despair as the Germans and later the Japanese run riot and England is losing battle after battle.
I found Obama’s Cairo speech good in some places, but utterly disingenuous in others. As much as people excoriate Bush for his belligerent tone with the Mideast, this was worse, in my opinion. Essentially, an open American apology and a ham handed edict to Israel, with no expectation of holding the Arab world accountable for their own actions. Moral equivalence at it’s worst and an insipid form of appeasement in it’s own right.
In my opinion, I think Kim Jong-il would eat Putin’s lunch. Obama doesn’t stand a chance against this guy and the various malefactors of the world know it. We’re right back to 1979 again and that candy ass approach Carter took.

June 8, 2009 at 3:57 PM #412414afx114ParticipantIsn’t N. Korea’s military made up mostly of rusted out and broken down Cold War-era Soviet hardware? And aren’t their troops and populace in general poorly trained and weakened by famine?
I don’t know if these things are true — they’re just nuggets that I’ve heard a few times from various reporters who’ve managed to get in there. I am curious what the military-knowledgeable people here think about the above claims.

What is the link between Obama and Carter?
For more information check Brezinski’s 2004 congressional hearings regarding the ME.
The ME was on the verge of of several revolutions in west friendly governments before Obama
Iran is a strategic energy parter with China
The strait of Hormuz carries over 20% of the world oil
Venezuela said before the election an attack on Iran would cause the oil spigot to be shut off.
You can’t shut off the oil when the banks are crashing. It would be back to the stone age.
Obama was a very strategic pick
Though, all is not well in the land of Zion with the Obama speech.

Coincidentally, the video comes about a week after Haaretz reported on the campaign launched by far-right Israelis called “No, you can’t,” meant to persuade their countrymen of the dangers of the “anti-Semitic” Barack Hussein Obama – with the emphasis on “Hussein.” So far, the campaign appears to consist of sparsely attended rallies and posters of Obama in a kaffiyeh, much like those of Yitzhak Rabin before his 1995 assassination.
One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. … -Woody Allen
