OT: “Novel” flu

I have been reading about flu and pandemics lately

I kept coming across the adjective “novel” and wondered why that term was being used to describe the current flu

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that one of the many executive orders GW signed during his terms happened to deal with “novel” influenza

““(c) Influenza caused by novel or reemergent influenza viruses that are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic.”.”

If I were a conspiracy theorist I might think that “novel” meant “created in a laboratory” and that GW’s executive order laid the groundwork for forced quarantine / internment / inoculation of the American people

Fortunately, I trust our govt and don’t believe they would ever intentionally try to kill their own citizens or use fear to control them …

And I’m sure it was just an accident that flu shots with live avian flu virus were shipped to Europe for distribution … the Baxter company will obviously resolve this issue before they start distributing the flu vaccine they are currently developing for us …
