Stick with Audi and go with the A5 coupe. It’s one sweet ride.

April 2, 2010 at 12:19 PM #534643briansd1GuestVery sorry to hear about your accident. Glad that you’re OK.
Value for the money?
Get a used BWM 5 Series. They depreciate a lot relative to brand new price so you get to enjoy someone else’s depreciation.
People who drive BMWs tend to baby them and not put too many miles on them. A used M5 is a good deal I believe. So would be 7 series but those cars are too big in my opinion.
Japanese cars are reliable but used cars are costly (relative to new price).
I don’t recommend new cars. They are a waste of money.
You just need to know how to look at cars and avoid the weasels (You know who they are. I won’t say anything otherwise, I’ll be called a racist and a bigot). Make sure the title matches the name of the seller.
Try to buy a car from a nice neighborhood… Some of those sellers are dreaming and asking pie-in-the-sky (because they don’t really need to sell)… but other sellers just want to get more than trade-in. If you have patience you’ll find a good car… Or you just might luck out right off the bat.
Never buy a used American car.

April 2, 2010 at 12:22 PM #534648jpinpbParticipantThanks, everyone, for your thoughts. I’m over the shock and disbelief and panic of him not stopping. I’m very sore and stiff. This is more than a hassle and inconvenience. When I tried to move the Audi to the curb, I was dragging the muffler. The whole rear was pushed down. I’m thinking undercarriage and frame got damaged. Not even sure if the convertible top will function properly. I suppose you can fix anything nowadays if you want to spend the money, but I’m thinking it’ll never be the same. Pretty sure it’s totaled. I figured I’m going to be out of pocket on this. I just don’t know what to get next.
