OT: One more redeeming thing about Costco: Car Battery For European Cars

So….After about 8 years, my Diehard battery in my Audi finally died over the weekend…I was going to go to sears to get another battery, but was sticker shocked by the Diehard that was $170….Autozone and Oreilly wasn’t much better, and I didn’t want to try the stealerships…

I ended up doing some research and found Costco stocks an Interstate battery for some European cars, though most stores don’t really know about it and you need to specfically ask for it. It’s Costco Battery #29 Item#850276 (the rest of the world an H6 battery or Group 48 battery or Group 94R battery)…

$110 + 42 months free replacement. That trounces most $170ish batteries offering only a 24 or 36 month free replacement.

So… Just in case you need a battery, and costco claims they don’t have one for your car, here’s a fitment chart I found…..

Definitely don’t get this done at Sears unless you just pick up the battery yourself. Went to the UTC Sears a few months back to get a new battery and was quoted a time of about 90 mins. Figured I’d get lunch and let them do the install. Just a few minutes shy of 4 hours later I finally left with a battery. They weren’t even that busy.

Unless you have a BMW, why do you need to pay a high-school dropout to install a battery?
