Well, I guess suggesting name calling was a bad idea? In any case, although we disagree on some things, I still think you could be well meaning? Pollyanna is the most cliche insult of militaristic types against those who question attitudes and philosophies connected to habitual demonstrations of power and the hypocrisy that is necessary part of “selling it” or “buying into it” for extended periods of time. It doesn’t fit me.

As a soldier, I didn’t advocate torture; I didn’t make war on non-combatants and I didn’t engage in practices that I felt were morally wrong. Yes, it is difficult in wartime, but there is a clear line (at least to me) as to what is right and what is wrong.

Casca is certainly entitled to his opinions, and perhaps his background has yielded a different worldview than mine. God bless America, baby, that’s what dissent is all about.
