    this song was part of a SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM where her “two big orange gay neighbors” long for a baby but build a bad seed robot that they love instead. the song worked really well there. so i googled the video, and the video was different than the ironic sense used by sarah.

    the first video actually triggers in me a recollection of what it was like to fall in love, which i had forgot.

    i think in order to get the full effect of either video you have to watch it in a completely silent preferably dark house at night in quiet slightly intoxicated and wistful.

    i did something pretty weird 14 years ago. I sent out about 100 letters asking people to write a letter with some advice to my two year old son that i would hold for him unopened in a box until his 16th birthday. A lot of people wrote, including my dad who died, justice sandra day o’connor, a noted screenwriter, and others….the box was dated to be opened…in 2011.

    which seemed a stupid long ways away back in 97. but here it fucking is.
