…when Edelbrock releases the CARB legal supercharger.
Oooh, really? That might be the trigger for me.
Bump.
Edelbrock just completed CARB certification and it passed. They are waiting for the EO number. Goodwin Racing is taking preorders for the kit. Count me in..
Also, Flyin Miata just completed their CARB certification for the BBR turbo, which currently puts a little more power out. It was done the same day Edelbrock completed theirs.
Flyin Miata also sells the Edelbrock kit.I bought from Goodwin to support the local businesses for this one..but both companies are great. I bought things from both in the past.

Is it just me or is CARB being slightly less evil lately? It used to take years to get even an intake certified.

I think newer cars are more efficient so it’s easier to pass carb. Folks have also said the wait to get carb certfied for kit cars isn’t as bad anymore. I might be tempted to convert my NA to something mean. FM has a V8 solution that is now also carb legal. Or there’s the other route of doing. Catfish. Costs about the same. One of these days.
The ND Miata are actually pretty good stock form. The only complaint people have were the stock suspension we’re a little soft. I bought coilovers two weeks into ownership. For like $980. And that took care of it. I am running about 3 seconds faster than in my NA with more power, though I think my setup is better in this car. With a blower hopefully I can knock a few more seconds off. Lol.
I think I am #3 in line for the install on October, so I’ll let you know how it goes. I will probably upgrade the radiator too since the front will be off. Beyond that, I don’t think there’s much more to do…

If I end up with an ND, that would be first on my list. I’ve also been thinking of doing something crazy like replacing the steering with a quicker ratio hydraulic setup. I have no idea what would be involved with that.
I think I am #3 in line for the install on October, so I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks, I appreciate the thought.September 15, 2017 at 8:15 AM #807893CoronitaParticipant

The ND Miata are actually pretty good stock form. Thanks, I appreciate the thought.
The steering isn’t that bad imho. The problem is with the ND everything is tied to the ECU so im not sure how easy it would be to replace it with a hydraulic…unless you do something like the V8 conversion which is hydraulic
You do have watch out for the stability control. It’s never really fully off. Supposedly if you turn it off and catch some air on the track, it ends you turning back on itself. But that is under extreme conditions
September 17, 2017 at 7:04 PM #807916CoronitaParticipantBrian Goodwin just posted his video of their ND race Miata with the Edelbrock SC. That thing is wickedly nibble and quick. This is how the ND miatas should have come out of the factory.
