Thanks for posting scaredy.
Very thought provoking, but it reminds me of the likes of those claiming (logically) that an economic collapse is around the corner. It hasn’t happened yet, and it most likely will not happen.
I believe we go on doing we what we are doing for at least another 200 years without any significant consequence. Both from an environmental and economic standpoint.
Humans are warriors – on net humans love to kill, destroy, eat, have sex, crap and pee. And not much more thanks to the progressive movement.
The good news is that according to NASA there are tens of billions of earth like planets in our galaxy alone – fortunately we just don’t matter as much as we think we do.
We have become invincible though for the time being thanks to technology.

i’m hopeful I can make it through the next generation with no major disruptions.
I kind of think we are not headed in a good direction though.
November 12, 2013 at 12:14 PM #767803FlyerInHiGuestParamount, why would an economic collapse be logical? If anything, a financial collapse is totally illogical.
Money is just a concept we invented to facilitate trade. Our ability to produce goods and services is not physically constrained by money. If we let a financial collapse happen, it’s because we are not smart enough to prevent it.

That’s why some investors who bet against the market make a fortune when there’s a correction.
But a correction is far different than a collapse. 2008 could have been a painful collapse if we had let it happen. Thankfully, we found ways to avoid more human suffering. The knowledge to act is there. The political will might be lacking.
Often times ideology stands in the way of logic and reason. But as Bill Clinton said ideology doesn’t get a damn thing done.
November 13, 2013 at 8:23 AM #767830NotCrankyParticipantWe might not be anymore alive or dead than the people who came before us. We are very primitive. From Lady Gaga to the queen of England and Pope to a guy on work furlough destined to fuck it up and go to jail again, we are all very primitive. It’s exciting how primitive we are.
