ParticipantThree comments:
1. It is will documented that the Audi problem was completely operator error. People were slamming on the gas versus the brake pedal.
2. I have a drive-by-wire car (BMW M3) and have absolutely NO problems with it.
3. I currently have a loaner Infiniti FX35 with the stupid push button starter and think it is the most retarded thing ever. Just another motion I have to go through to start the car. Is turning a key REALLY that tough????

I love the push button start. Especially when it’s properly implemented like in the Infiniti and not the Benz. W/ Benz, you still have to stick your key in the hole, then push the button. That’s retarded. However, w/ the Infiniti system, you can leave your keys in your pocket and just push the button when you sit down. Don’t have to fumble w/ the keys. That’s a big convenience for me.September 2, 2009 at 3:44 PM #452218an

Participant
Yikes. I don’t dig these new cars without keys and we always drive manual transmissions. If they are going to make cars suck as much as computers at least put a CtrlAltDelete function on them so we can reboot.
If you have a car that have intelligent keys, you can always throw your keys out the windows. after 100 yards, your car engine will turn off. Other ways to stop has already been listed. Interesting thing is, this is a CHP officer. Isn’t he trained to think quick?
