ParticipantI won’t bash. The good news is that it is only $3k, so a very cheap lesson:
Never ever never lend money to family or a friend.
Do you still want the friendship? If you want the money back, I would never let up. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. When she gives you a sob story, give it back to her 10 fold.

ParticipantI like the idea of giving back a sob story. Tell her you have cancer and need the money for chemo. (no offense to the real cancer sufferers out there). Or tell her you missed a mortgage payment and are getting foreclosed on.
If she doesn’t have the money, going to court won’t change anything (except make some lawyers happy).
