Participantno, we will only find out if there is an afterlife.
if there is no afterlife, there won’t be any “we” around to find out after our physical being dissolves.

ParticipantWith all due respect it was just cycling. Most of us didn’t even tune in before Lance, and don’t now.
I know in a SD thread it’s likely some of you are into it. Then again the bigger question is why does Cardiff feel the need to weigh in a topic he cares nothing about? Better to just dummy up? Maybe I have issues.

Participantit was not “just cycling”. Read Roland Barthes on the Tour D France. This was a lot more than just guys on bikes.
this was life itself.

ParticipantIMHO, Lance, Bonds, Soto, Williams, pro-players in the Olympics et. al, much like our country’s debt problem only has one solution.
Performance enhancing drugs just need to be legalized. We’ll have ten years of hyper performing juiced crank heads and then they’ll start blowing apart and every one will get to see the true impacts of the juice.

Participant

squat, we all have different beliefs about how eternity will work out for each of us. I have friends who have strong spiritual beliefs as I do, and others who believe in nothing at all, and I respect all of them.
I can understand why some people hope there is “nothing,” it’s easier that way–no accountability. I’m sticking with what I believe to be true–to each his or her own.
Place your bets, and take your chances.
There is plenty accountability here on earth, day to day.
Of course, now that I am persuaded our existence is a computer program, there maybe accountability in the sense that our characters accrue points in future games. Perhaps a high score may count in future reset games
You never know, squat–you may be onto something. Guess we’ll all find out after that last breath!
Squat, you’re assuming the game is good guys win…
By looking at what’s going on, if our world is a computer simulation, it’s more like Grand Theft Auto, complete with the Hot Coffee hack installed…

ParticipantIt’s difficult to tell sometimes what might please an angry G-d or a demented supremely sophisticated computer programmer.
I believe we Jews find it best just to keep our heads down and not piss Him off any more than we already have.

Man squat it sure looks like you love this guy. For Lance’s sake I hope there are more people out there like you that admire the guy or can justify what he did.

Funny. But an insult to the frothy mix of feces and lubricant produced during anal sex.

I realize we got into this conversation because of the Lance topic, and, even though we’ve gone even further OT, I guess I should have expressed myself more clearly.
To keep it simple, and without going into a dissertation, I think we can all agree that some of us believe “something” continues to exist after the physical being dissolves, while others believe “nothing” exists after the physical being dissolves, with regard to an afterlife.
Arguments can be made on both sides, but I won’t go there, because this is not the place to do so. I’m completely at peace with my beliefs regarding this issue, and wish others the same–whatever they may believe.

ParticipantI agree. But the point remains. We cannot know if there is no afterlife. If you’re right, you know. If I’m right, we never get to know since we are not there to know the nothing.
Seems unfair.
