OMG! Well, I did research the different Bosch models and I knew that any of the SHE models were no good. They did have them in the outlet and they did look bad, cheaper, flimsy and overall lesser quality than the higher end models. Almost like people were buying the lower end quality just b/c it was Bosch expecting it to be as good as the top of the line models.
This is what I mean how it makes you crazy when you start doing research and the brands have so many different models and some good ones get discontinued and new ones are not as good and then other ones are better, etc. Well, once I get the kitchen all done and start using that d/w, I’ll post back here how good or bad it is. Hopefully it’ll be okay. I mostly wanted something quiet. DH hates the noise after dinner. But if it doesn’t clean dishes, then what’s the point. These Bosch dishwashers are not cheap. They better wash the dishes for the price.

You can pick pretty much any model of any mfr and read horror stories online.
Our SHE model has been excellent so far and we’re glad we didn’t shell out any additional $$ as it would have been for nothing – the one we’ve purchased does everything we want. Besides, don’t the higher end units have the controls on the lip? We didn’t want that.
We went Viking for cooking and some of the reviews online almost convinced me not to do that. There were some really nasty things said online. But it was the only model with the BTUs my wife wanted in a six burner configuration so we bought it anyway. And you know what? Not a single problem. It has worked flawlessly and my wife couldn’ be happier.
The internet is great and all, but it sometimes feels like only the whiners get online to say anything which skews people’s impressions of products.

February 26, 2011 at 11:17 AM #671522jpinpbParticipantSvelte – I agree. Most of the time people complain. The only reason i was able to get the higher end model is only b/c the outlet had it for less. Bosch wasn’t even the plan b/c of budget. Sometimes even the models may just have a particular batch that isn’t as good as the rest. Sometimes it could just be a certain production run is the problem. Anyway, it’ll take a while to do this kitchen, but i will keep everyone post on the performance of the d/w, JIC anyone else is interested. I wish I had the jack for a Viking. Your wife should be happy. Hope she’s cooking some good meals so you can enjoy the purchase as well π
