I would second the dyson recommendation. Mine is the all floor model, and can’t say enough good things about the cleaner. I have had mine for about 4 years. The best aspect is the washable filter, besides the suction power. My place has carpet, wood and tile flooring, and the vacuum does an excellent job.
The dyson was a replacement for my Phantom canister, which lasted for about 11 years. Assuming the dyson lasts atleast as long, the initial cost might be acceptable. Don’t want to sound like I am selling dyson, but I do love my dyson!!
