Israel will do what it wants to. In Lebanon, Jordan, Egpyt, or anywhere else it please despite condemnation of the UN or the US.Look at the case history.
CE[/quote]OK, Israel does what it wants to do — with weapons we provide to them for free.

They pay for them… But they get a big discount! π
CE
Actually more and more they build thier own weapons because they know their forgein policies could get them kicked off of the equipment tit.
and P.S.S.
I am neither Jewish or Arab… Just a white guy who reads a lot of Economist and Janes… So no personal feelings for one or the other…
You know I just remembered something. I play soccer with a persian guy… We were talking about this last year when the topic was hot then… And he told me his mother, literally, prays to God every day that the US will bomb Iran. That was shocking.

You make a good point.
ALL of US aid to Israel amounts to probably $5 billion per year. Their military budget is about $13 billion. $5 billion more than covers equipment purchases.
But technically, you’re right, the Israelis use portion of US aid to buy weapons from us; and they produce and sell their own weapons too.
Yes, Israel is an independent country and theoretically does what it wants. But if we don’t like something, and we don’t stop it, it’s because we don’t want to stop it or we don’t try hard enough.
There are different types of Persians. If the Persian guy you know is a product of the old regime of the Shah, of course, he would want to overthrow the Islamic revolution.
Some Chinese still want to attack China and some Vietnamese want to restart the Vietnam war. I’m sure that some Russians want to bring back the Tsar.
Remember Ahmed Chalabi of Iraq? He got us into Iraq, and what did we get? A catastrophe that cost $1 trillion, about 5,000 dead and 35,000 wounded American soldiers, and a big win for Iran.
Iran’s geopolitical position has been greatly enhanced by the chaos in Iraq. So I do understand Israel’s worries. But that’s their problem, not ours.
