If this furniture actually works the way it claims to, it would be a lot cheaper in the long run to buy housing with fewer rooms, and transform the furniture as needed:

Alas, I don’t know how much it actually is.

Have any of you looked at prices of a plain white dresser at something like Pottery Barn for Kids or Baby R Us? $700+ 3 drawer dresser that’s going to get the crap kicked out of them by the kid?
I’ll tell you folks what. You buy that $700 dresser, I’ll buy the $125 ikea special, and if my kid doesn’t loose interest in the plain white, I’ll replace them every two years if it falls apart and probably still come out ahead. (and yes, that pottery barn special is made in china just like the ikea special).
Along the same line…
I found slightly better quality at reasonable prices at Plumbers. And for much more upscale…Lawrance. Though I was pretty pissed that one of my friends came over and said. Wow, nice dining table. I didn’t know ikea sold that… (fvcker)…
IKEA furniture have its place. I have plenty of IKEA tables and dressers too. Don’t get me wrong, I love their stuff because it looks good and it’s cheap. But I definitely won’t kid myself in thinking that somehow, I’m getting more than what I’m paying for. Jerome is my other favorite furniture store. Especially if you can find something in their clearance section. It could be much cheaper than IKEA and much better built. My TV stand from Jerome will definitely last for ages, even w/ my kid climbing on, jumping on, and running things into it. I can’t say the same for my IKEA dressers.September 1, 2010 at 11:23 PM #599132anParticipant
Ikea makes great kids furniture, like plain white dressers, etc…

I LOVE that stuff!!!!!
It’s a shame we don’t have more options like that. As UCGal said, everything here is overstuffed and way too big; it doesn’t work in a small house.
If we end up in a smaller house, we’ll be looking into that company’s furniture.
Thank you!
