January 4, 2010 at 8:40 PM #499037partypupParticipantEnorah, I always knew that you and I were kindred spirits π My partner and I have also decided to move to Ojai (or Carpinteria) in a few months. It is most definitely time to leave L.A. And we, too, are being called. Ojai/Carp is close enough to L.A. to allow us to visit and allow me to tele-commute a few days a week until I am laid off after my contract expires in March 2011. Ihave no bloody idea how my company will survive until then, but if they do I’m getting paid π
We’ve got an organic garden all planned out in our minds, and we have our eyes on a few houses on decent acreage with large back yards and plenty of room for our son and dogs to romp. I don’t think folks are going to adjust easily to the coming *changes* this year, and my sense is that it would be prudent to be around fewer people than more. A peaceful place in the country will be priceless. Perhaps you and I can hang out when we get there!

January 4, 2010 at 9:14 PM #499057Allan from FallbrookParticipantPartypup: Don’t forget the Claymore mines! You’ll also need something heavy, preferably a .50cal, to control the open areas of your property. Don’t forget: Maintain good fields of fire.
They also have lots of those “free love” hippie types going free range up there in Ojai, too. Watch out for VW microbuses, Grateful Dead t-shirts and excessive body hair/odor. Those are tip-offs that those granola crunching peaceniks are nearby. Same with references to the ’60s, Mother Jones magazine and “The Man”.
