OT: How We Spend Our Lives

We were talking to some friends today about how most of us spend our lives, and one of the “stat” guys came up with some interesting facts I thought I’d share:

With an average life expectancy of 78.6 years across the board, here’s how some of the general categories break down:

25 years sleeping
10 years working
9 years watching TV
2 years cleaning
3 years cooking
4 years eating
6 years shopping
2 years in the bathroom
5 years driving
12 years TBD

No wonder they say life is short.

Personally, we’ve cut the “working” category in less than half, so that frees up more TBD years, should we be so lucky to make it to 78.

6 or so years for school and studying and more then 10 for work for a lot of people.

Of course, there are many other categories each of us can add, and there will be variations on the theme–some of us will be here a shorter time–others longer.
I just thought it was very interesting to see how most of the categories are universal.

Seeing life categorized in terms of how just about everyone on the planet spends their years, makes it clear that no one is here forever. Imo, it’s just more of an impetus to really live the life you want to live–now.

I’m jealous of people who naturally don’t need much sleep.

Luckily now we have smartphones for those 2 years of bathroom time!

We spend out time.
And when we’re all spent.
We ask for an extension.
