If craigslist isn’t working, I suspect your price might be a bit out of range. You’re also correct with regard to best time of year. This isn’t exactly it.
You can advertise with the U-T (print and on-line), The Reader, and MLS, but I don’t think any of those are as effective as CL.

October 15, 2009 at 11:50 AM #469612RenParticipantAgreed, Craigslist works great if your price is at or below market. Rents likely have dropped in your area, so rather than try to rent it for what it’s gotten in the past, check current rates and price just below them. I have a few friends who are convinced their rentals are the best in the neighborhood, they set their price higher without budging, then are forced to take in questionable tenants because they’ll pay more. Three months later they wonder why they have an eviction on their hands and thousands of dollars in repairs. I guess in their minds, the extra $100/month was worth it?

October 15, 2009 at 1:18 PM #469715exsdgalParticipantThanks for the comments. I do not believe the monthly rent is an issue. Based on cl postings, the rent is one of the lowest, if not the best for the area. If it matters, the homes are meticulous and are in desirable areas.
This is why the cl “response” is bit surprising to me. It has been a while since I last used cl for renting the house. So was wondering perhaps there are alternative places to advertise that can be effective.
Cheers.
