Well, prices were unusually low last year. I think they are up.
We had a very nice upgraded room at the Andaz downtown one recent weekend for under $200/night. Didn’t seem out of line for a really nice hotel like that. It was awesome!
April 7, 2012 at 3:56 PM #741261sdrealtorParticipantGot 4 star hotel in Seattle for next week at $85 on Priceline.

April 8, 2012 at 9:50 PM #741284KSMountainParticipantWell,, I’m in an ocean/rock view room in Carmel tonight. Yes, you have to pay for that. Supply and demand is reality.
April 9, 2012 at 1:04 AM #741287sdduuuudeParticipantDefinitely try hotwire and priceline.
You can use them together if you know the tricks. Basically, you use hotwire to find the lowest prices, then use that information to make slightly lower bids on Priceline.
Also, check out betterbidding.com to help figure out which hotel you are getting before you book.
Flights, more so than hotel rooms, are what I think are very expensive now.

As much as I dislike Vegas, i’m in sin city. Really busy.
All the helicopter flights to grand canyon are booked solid.Yes, airfares are higher this year. According to FAA there will be tight capacity for at least 5 more years.

brian, why don’t you just rent a car and drive down there. It’s not that far … when you get there you can take a camel to see the sights :=]

I take that back!
I DID once ride a helicopter thru it at the Ruben Fleet Space Theatre in Balboa Park but had to step out early on because I began to feel sick (due to vertigo) :=[
Riding burros thru the GC sounds fun!
