ParticipantI carpooled for years until I was stricken with BPPV.
However, friends of mine at work insist the reason my commute sucks is b/c my car sucks.
The former President of Shell believes gas will be $5/gallon within a year or so.
CNBC:
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The former president of Shell Oil, John Hofmeister, says Americans could be paying $5 for a gallon of gasoline by 2012.

ParticipantSomething to think about. I have an old car and a newer one. One gets good mileage. The other has a nice ride, heated seats and it is safer. I drive them both, but I always enjoy driving the newer one for the comfort factor.

ParticipantI commute from Temecula to Carlsbad. My hedge against gas prices is an aftermarket air intake on my pocket rocket. It added 2mpg, and makes a cool woooosssshhhh as it sucks in air and I can now hear the psssssshhhhhh from the turbo bypass valve when I let off the gas. Some things are more important than money – namely torque.
