What did your Apple TV do that seemed buggy?
Try loading a 40,000+ photo library. Takes 5-10 minutes to load every single time. I understand it’s a streaming device, but they could leverage some of the 8GB onboard NAND to cache file lists and metadata so the entire library doesn’t have to be transferred & processed every time I want to show some friends some pictures on my TV.
Also, try setting your photo library as the screen saver, it will randomly cycle through a small subset of photos rather than all of them. My screensaver repeats the same 15 photos over and over. Check the Apple TV discussion forums, there are tons of complaints.

October 15, 2010 at 6:30 PM #618730briansd1GuestThe Apple TV is disappointing to me. I think of it as an access point to consumers’ wallets. At 99c a show, I can see families racking up $$$ bills.
No apps.
No browser to surf the Net.
No input for recording shows.
The Apple TV does have a nice interface and it’s easy to navigate. Makes it easy to watch Netflix streams.
So if you have the discipline not to buy anything else from Apple (and never get tempted to rent TV show or movies) then $99 is a good price.
But overall, the Apple is not of much use to me. I’m giving it to my niece.
I’m going to hook up a computer with Windows 7 Media Center to my TV and run some other software such as Boxee.tv
I am looking forward to playing with the Google TV though.
