ParticipantCooking classes at Great News Cooking school. Fun. Interesting. Good food. It’s a good date night if you are into cooking at all.

That is a good idea. I wonder if there are women out there who would take it wrong. “Honey, happy Mother’s Day. I’m sending you to learn how to cook!”

Only if she likes to cook. Some ladies see cooking as a chore… How about a day at a full-service spa? Unlike the cooking class, it won’t feel like working.

ParticipantReally, you sit there and eat while they talk and cook.

ParticipantI think cooking classes are too much of a commitment unless you are CERTAIN she would like it. Otherwise, it could be seen as a chore – she’d have to go so as not to offend you and that would be annoying. If it’s one time only, that’s not too bad.
In general, gift certificates to do things are annoying unless they are something the person has always wanted to do. They introduce a sense of obligation to redeem that detracts from the gift.
What’s your budget? And I might have missed this, but is this your Mom or your wife?

It isn’t like it is a college course. It’s one night. It’s like going out to dinner except you watch them cook and take home the recipes.
