I liked to play ping-pong, badminton and croquet in the olden days.

I never tried foosball but the tables look interesting to me. Your kids would probably really like one of those . . . as well as scaredy (the big kid) :=)

I know it isn’t what you were going for, but a Wii is pretty darn fun, and can offer many games in a small space while changing over time. A foosball table will always be a foosball table.

A regular card table is nice, too, for board-games, cards, Yahtzee, etc.

Consider a bumper-pool table. Needs less space than a regular pool table and doubles as a card-table.

Air-hockey comes to mind. Shuffleboard is fun.

Homegoods in encinitas has a digital score keeping table shuffleboard. If I ever move to a state with a basement, I would invest in one of those along with a foosball table, pool table and dart board.

Video games are great and all but for the kids, get something not video game related.

After kid consultation and thought I think we will go ping pong first as that seems like the game most likely to yield most durable pleasure. Cheap table to hack around on ok until we figure out if we are obsessed as is likely to happen w my kids
