That would be a huge bummer! 🙁
Cute dog, too.

March 24, 2014 at 9:21 PM #772200LAAFTERHOURSParticipantThe dog was a $4000 dollar gift and the guy that picked him up knew his name and described him like his own. Sounds sketchy…
March 27, 2014 at 6:47 PM #772293LAAFTERHOURSParticipantBulldog returned by anonymous individual… continues to be a sketchy story.
April 1, 2014 at 6:23 PM #772390svelteParticipantYep, Schroeder was found!

April 1, 2014 at 11:03 PM #772392CA renterParticipantAfter reading that news report, I have to agree with LA; it sounds sketchy.
First, the dog “slips under the fence” of the storage place where he lived with his owners. Then, a mystery man finds the dog and takes it to Dogtopia, a doggy daycare facility (very strange). Next, another mystery man picks up this dog after describing him and his name to the workers at the daycare center. It is after this that the owners claim their dog was stolen (yeah, right). Finally, another mystery man returns the dog to is owners…who are **making payments** on a dog that they claim is worth $4,000.
Now, I’m no dog breeder, but I don’t believe for a minute that this dog is worth $4,000. And it certainly wouldn’t make sense for someone who is so poor that they have to finance their own dog to own a dog that costs this much when they can get a certified one from a pet store or breeder for about half that price.
April 2, 2014 at 6:33 AM #772396svelteParticipantWhen I originally heard they financed a dog I told my wife that sounded odd. But she said people do that all the time.
Then I thought about the fact that even the diamond industry advertises that you should buy your squeeze a ring worth three months salary. If people buy that ludicrous pitch (and they do), then they probably finance their dogs too.
April 2, 2014 at 10:31 PM #772412CA renterParticipantI’ll never understand why someone would choose to pay someone $4,000 (still doubting that number) for a dog when they can get an amazing dog from the shelter for $150 or less, even purebreeds. People are crazy.
April 3, 2014 at 12:34 AM #772416FlyerInHiGuestNot crazy. Back in 2002, a friend paid $5000 for a shepherd. Clearly superior. Not proportionally superior, but clearly superior.
Not sure about this dog…. I just don’t like bulldogs, or pitbulls or dogs like that.
April 3, 2014 at 2:04 AM #772418CA renterParticipantWe have a wonderful purebred German Shepherd. No papers, but he’s the stereotypical GSD with no hint of any other breed. Already house trained when we got him. When we eat, he actually walks away and lies down about 20 feet away (trained by someone not to beg). We tell him to “go to bed” and he immediately trots to his pen and lies down on his bed. Loves being groomed and will even let you file his nails and brush his teeth without any fuss. Incredibly patient and kind with kids, even friends’ very young kids who are a bit too physical with him. Always watching over us, too. Awesome dog. Less than $150 at the shelter.

[/quote]This might just be ignorance on my part, but what is meant by “superior” here? And what do you consider the purpose of owning a dog to be?
