Haha, my 94 yo auntie has been eating weeds all her life… Dandelion, etc…
Her back yard is a mess, but still, at her age, she goes out there and collects dinner. You need good top soil, but throw seeds out there and you got food. Put pineapple top in the ground, and soon you got a new pineaple to enjoy.
In San Diego you gotta water but at end of times all you need is fertile soil, lots of rain, chicken, rabbits, some pigs and maybe a pond for fish and ducks. As long as your neighbors and marauders don’t kill you for your food, you can survive forever.
That’s how people lived in villages all over the world. Nothing new.
Btw, schools kids in France are taught foraging skills to collect mushrooms and berries in parks and forests.
