J: Yup, in speech and debate it holds even less water than red herrings, strawmen or ad hominem. When you fire the Hitler shot, its pretty much an admission that you’ve lost.

For someone who isn’t skilled in argument or reasoning, you’ll notice pretty consistent use of ad hominem (“You’re an idiot; You’re retarded”), along with the use of non-credible sources, and specious “facts”.

BigGubment employs a hit-and-run style, and you’ll notice never responds with actual facts or a reasoned argument. He can’t.

Rus: And, after watching a Navy detail pretty much mop an entire missile frigate one time, I completely understand why.

As an Army officer, I was taught to lead by example and to participate equally in any work my men did. Not so much with the Navy. There were a pair of young officers (ensigns) watching this detail work, all the while smoking cigs and talking.

Navy has great coffee, though.
