I watched the whole thing thanks.
I’m still processing what was said, but great points were made.
December 20, 2013 at 7:44 AM #769317scaredyclassicParticipantI haven’t watched the video but the law is anything bad you say comes in at trial anything good is inadmissible. If you have a story to get out of it better to have your lawyer pitch it since nothing the lawyer says is admissible.
Only a sucker talks to the police.

Your post is basically a summary of what was said on the video. 🙂

December 20, 2013 at 5:17 PM #769329scaredyclassicParticipantThe important thing is to teach your kids and spouse to never ever discuss anything with the cops too. Wait until we can all regroup lawyer up and compare stories.
I have always told my kids I can forgive them any crime but I will never ever forgive them for talking to the cops. I will take that as a slap in the face to everything I’ve tried to instill in you.
So far no cases but this lesson requires occasional refresher courses because there is a deep profound human drive to confess.
December 21, 2013 at 9:10 PM #769338paramountParticipantMost important: Remember that the justice system is never more lenient on you when you give up your rights. Confessing or cooperating will only make things harder on you. When you give up your rights, you also give up any hope of being treated fairly.
Never cave in and waive your rights. EVER.
December 22, 2013 at 10:03 AM #769341scaredyclassicParticipantCooperation does not help unless you have a contract in writing with a prosecutor–no cop can make any enforceable promise.

December 23, 2013 at 10:32 PM #769360teaboyParticipantSorry, but this seems less straightforward to me.
If I’m driving and a cop pulls me over and asks me if I’ve been drinking, I’m not going to plead the fifth, I’m going to tell him “no , I’ve not been drinking”. It’s just not as simple as ‘don’t ever talk to the cops’. I value my time and don’t want to create trouble for myself when a few simple polite words are more likely to get me back on my way.

From paramount’s link:
These divide and conquer tactics by the mainstream media now seem to be a commonplace in today’s society. The ability to blow a hot button social issue out of proportion, now in the case of a prominent television star exercising his right to free speech is being used to create infighting amongst the left and the right while a bipartisan effort to strip our rights away takes place…
…[w]ith massive grassroots opposition against the defense spending bill since its inception from both the left and the right, such political distraction was necessary to pass the NDAA with little opposition: 85-14. Roll call has not been made available at this time. The bill is now awaiting President Obama’s signature.
This is key. The “left vs. right” nonsense is being used to divide us. Most of us, when you get down to the dirty details, really want the same thing. They have to create this false divide by using very personal, highly divisive topics…and they keep these things in front of us using the MSM.
As has been noted here before, we hear all about Miley Cyrus’ “twerking,” but nothing about the TPP or other truly important matters. This is not an accident or coincidence.

In the same vein, The Campaign (Will Ferrell) pretty accurately captured how political candidates are selected by those who really run the government. It’s done in a humorous way, but very true to life. I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. It’s a great inside look at how politics are played and the masses are swayed.
The Candidate is a good one, too.
