I like dogs, but they sure inhibit your lifestyle–vacations, vets bills, poop, barking.
I’d like to own one. For about twenty minutes per day.
Is there an App for that?January 6, 2014 at 12:17 PM #769545scaredyclassicParticipantIncreasing dog indulgence sign of rampant loneliness and mental distress in population.
Years ago people would’ve laughed or institutionalized you for treating a dog like a human…
Now it’s normal.
January 6, 2014 at 12:20 PM #769546scaredyclassicParticipantI just hate their neediness. They were bred to work and serve and now they’re neurotic beasts.
We need a new breed of psychiatry dogs that basically don’t bark dig herd or bite and just sit with people quietly and be petted.
Dogs are just not appropriate pets for most people because the dog needs a job beyond just listening to their master.

Got to love Californicator petty Fascist thinking. Need a law for everything — throw the book at ’em. If it causes an accident, then look twice at it, but treating any unrestrained dog like a DUI is frankly insane.
I may add that some dogs do NOT deal with car rides well, and having them ride in a crate or wear a harness would make things a lot worse. Think shaky/vomity/messy mutt.
On the way him from NY. Happy to get a flight away from thr snow and cold.
Dogs everywhere in my friend’s neighborhood on upper west side. There are golden retrievers in the building. I’m pretty sure the size limit is smaller but the rules are not enforced. Goldies are so cute and harmless.I love dogs. Love of dogs is a sign of a good person. But scoop the poop. Those who don’t are bad parents.
Dogs do not have parents.
Everyone nowadays thinks calling a dog a child us normal.
I just disagree.
A dog is a reflection of our desire for a conflict free relationship where the child obeys … and where our control is total and abdolute.
I believe excessive dog love is a sign of serious issues.
I’m sure I will inspire hate with these remarks.

I’d actually agree. Though I think that most people who call dogs “children” do so in jest, not seriously. If someone seriously thinks of a dog as a child, then yeah, they’ve got issues.

In my experience it is NOT in jest.

Animals are people too.

January 6, 2014 at 12:44 PM #769555scaredyclassicParticipantThe humanification of dogs is big money for the pet care industry.
January 6, 2014 at 12:52 PM #769552scaredyclassicParticipantHow did Stephen King get almost killed walking off the side of a road.
By a dog loving idiot with a loose Dog jumping on him…While driving
How is that an “accident”?
That should definitely be specifically criminalized. If your dog pukes that’s on you. There are lives at stake…

Most animal shelters have volunteers who do this sort of thing, for a variety of reasons.
January 6, 2014 at 4:57 PM #769558treehuggerParticipantI love my furry babies and am a proud doggy mama! My 2 human children know that their furry siblings come first.
I enjoy taking my dogs places, keeps me calm and they enjoy being good canine ambassadors.
We run and mountain bike with our dogs; however, my boy is not allowed off leash anymore, because he has been bit by a rattlesnake and got his butt torn up by some neighborhood coyotes and I can’t afford anymore vet bills. My girl is fantastic, on or off leash she does great.
All 4 of my children have been to doggy school. The instructor had a difficult time with my human son, but did a great job of correcting him. I highly recommend all parents of human children take them to doggy school.
This attack is very sad and appears to be an irresponsible dog owner (2 recent bites at children ages 3-5). Dogs bite, kids bite, walk unknown into my house and my dogs will guard the house, we try to teach our children that even their own furry siblings could get annoyed and snap, but unfortuantely this does not sound like a snap or even an unforeseen action. Very, very sad, likely will be the end for the Akita.
I hate to hear about this kind of stuff.
My parents have an adorable 10 pound malti-poo that bites me, my husband, and our kids! She is terrifying!
