ParticipantWhy no shed, are you allergic? I have a dog that has short hair, she is a boxer/lab mix, and I am not allergic to her. The dogs that give me fits are the pure breds – I cannot go near cockers, springers (all spaniels) goldens, labs, germans…you get the idea. A cocker can cause welts on my skin just by touching me with their nose! And Weims do shed, just small hair…remember the Westerfield trial, they had a Weim and he had dog hair in his dryer from poor little Danielle. You might try a mutt…but if it is the mess, good luck!

ParticipantI am not allergic..I just have something against hair/fur. I would rather have Chinese torture than have dog hair on my clothes or on my floor. I could care less about a dog but like Marion my kids really want one and you can’t be a kid and not have a dog.

ParticipantNow I understand your dilemma. I went to the site Marion posted and it seems many dogs are average shedders, some I wouldn’t have thought. There’s this guy at the beach who has a Vizsla. My second favorite. Beautiful dog. Every time I see it I would love to have one. Very obedient and protective, attentive. But it sheds, also. Not so easy to find one that doesn’t shed.
